I’ve Got More Calls Than I Can Handle!

There’s a lot of our clients right now who are in an excellent position, especially considering the COVID-19 situation, that they have more calls than they know how to deal with. What great news, right? Well to some of them, it stresses them out and they tend to, sometimes, do the wrong thing as a result.

Their wrong answer goes something like this: “Let’s slow some things down.” or “I can finally take my attention off of marketing.” or even worse, “Let’s turn off our lead gen.”

Some of our clients turn off their Pay-Per-Click programs, SEO programs or their Lead Generation programs and sometimes unbelievably, their referral programs, when they feel that their call volume has gotten too high. This can prove to be a fatal move for you, as it lacks that necessary future foresight. What you should be doing is what we all intuitively know, which is to expand your business and hire people to handle that growth. The right answer is never to “turn off the growth.”

Being an astute business owner means having foresight and trying to predict and prepare for the future. The restoration business has its ups and its downs.  If you’re only thinking about present time, and the potential upcoming downs aren’t on your mind at all times, you’re going to be hit with an unexpected loss that’s going to hurt. When things are great you need to do more of what’s making them great, you need to look 3 to 6 months into the future and provide for your company and family. Remember how farmers used to think? They used to have to work really hard for months in order to supply food for their family for an entire year. You have to think like this with your sales and marketing. It never stops.

If you’re too busy, work the overtime, bring in some contractors, get in touch with other companies that will help you run your calls. But do not start digging your own grave, turn off marketing campaigns and putting off until tomorrow what you should be doing today. Don’t start digging your future grave by not adding new sales and marketing programs and procedures for your future year.

Winter comes. Storm season ends. Hurricanes miss your area. There’s all sorts of reasons that we’ve all experienced that you will have slows. It’s inevitable. Always add to, never take away. Always think of expansion and organizing for that expansion, never pull back.
